Historic home from Florida's Golden Age. Gorgeous Florida Room is sunfilled and has double windows that open to the river breezes. Covered porch with wicker sofa and small balcony with French Doors has views of the Cotee River. Large oak trees surround house..quick walk to restaurants. Twenty minutes to area beaches. House was home to radio and newspaper columnist "Cousin Mary" and built by investor George Sims in the 1920's. Sims Park was named after him. He & his wife entertained many film stars from the"Roaring Twenties" who used to vacation in New Port Richey..many built homes along the scenic river. Gloria Swanson, Ed Wynn Sr,Babe Ruth, Joseph & Rose Kennedy, George Gershwin and the famous golfer Gene Sarazan were all house guests and frequent visitors to the New Port Richey area before the film business settled into Hollywood, Ca. Walk along the quiet river..sit on a bench and watch the pleasure boats pass..maybe see a manatee or dolphin cruising upstream. This is a place to relax and let the sunshine warm your skin.

My family and I stayed at the Riverview cottage and had a wonderful time. Situated on a quiet street, this cottage provided a relaxing place to stay after busy days of sightseeing. New Port Richey is just a short drive away from exciting attractions (Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, beautiful beaches, etc.). Furthermore, it was comforting to have an owner who was genuinely concerned about your stay. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone, and I hope to return.

We enjoyed our two weeks at Riverview and would come back.Jim and his mom were great hosts. If you want to avoid gated-communities, the suburbs, tourists, and would enjoy old-Florida with walks along the river, this is the place to go.
